More about me...
I am a DBS cleared professional artist with lots of experience of delivering hands-on workshops for both children and adults and many years of working on creative projects in schools and a variety of settings.
I trained as a textile artist at Winchester School of Art and have always been keen to follow my passion for art, drawing, making and creating which I started at a young age. I was fortunate at school to have an inspirational teacher who encouraged me to try out new ideas including silk screen printing, silk painting and printing from secondary school age and it was from here my enthusiasm for the subject developed. I realised what an effect an inspirational teacher can have on the path of your own life and it is, for this reason, I feel passionate about working with children and adults, helping others in the belief that you can do anything with a little help and encouragement…
Along my own journey, I have worked with many adults that have become entrenched in fear about drawing anything, lacking in confidence as at some point along their path they have been told what they have done is not good enough! You may identify with this, or may in fact this may have been part of your story and now you’re needing to re-ignite your inner child again….
If so, you might be looking for some inspirational workshops, or opportunities to experiment or take part in an online course to boost your creativity. I run workshops from the studio as well as going into settings and also, as the world has changed, now via online…
I am fortunate to work from a fabulous art studio called “Soulspace” when I’m not running workshops elsewhere. The studio, which is in an old mill, is a lovely bright light-filled space with big windows overlooking the landscape. There are two studios within one space, which I share with fellow local artist Michael Howley, and together we have created a wonderful creative environment, heated by a wood-burning stove, with a spacious centre table to run workshops and classes.
Here I offer specialist classes including teacher training and textile workshops as having an abundance of materials and resources I have built up and gathered over the years, all of which serves as great inspiration for workshops.
Over the years, I have been invited to groups and facilitated talks and demonstrations, workshops in school plus adult workshops for relaxation including painting on silk, feltmaking, creative collage, mixed media textiles, painting, drawing and markmaking to name a few!
I also am often asked to run specialist workshops for the Embroiderers Guild and groups wanting to work with their own sewing machines and threads. Having consolidated a rich source of materials in one place, I can offer specialist workshops for adults and also training with art co-ordinators from here, as well as offering in house workshops and courses online also.
Look out for dates and courses what’s coming up or fill in the add me to your mailing list and you will receive the latest information.
From the studio, I also produce my own artwork – layered ink textile and collaged illustrations, built up with stitching, which I sell in galleries and at various art fairs and events.
Please see the gallery of artwork I produce and I also create personalised commissions and bespoke pieces, so please contact me if you wish to enquire about creating an individual piece.
