Staff training and CPD

I have many years experience in helping schools and offer INSET training for teachers and CPD workshops to help schools develop the visual arts curriculum and explore teaching and art skills for the classroom. CPD can be run in house in your setting, depending on distance. Face to face training for teachers in Lancashire and the surrounding areas can be arranged.

Pre covid-19, I offered training for art co-ordinators from my studio premises, which may well resume when possible to do so.

I am able to offer zoom based CPD / Inset for primary teachers and art co-ordinators and can offer tailored inset for individual schools or clusters. Please contact me with your requirements and I’d be happy to discuss. I can offer tailored advice for individual schools.

Areas of specialism include – Inspiring teachers with ideas and skills across the art curriculum, encouraging creative risk taking and helping with progression and planning.
I offer courses looking at different areas of the creative curriculum, helping teachers to develop confidence and skills in delivering the curriculum in this area. Most Primary schools have an art coordinator who will help teachers plan the art across the curriculum. Many, in my experience, can find it hard to teach the subject with little specialist knowledge within the school. Teaching art and enjoying it is a key aim to the support I provide. Giving inexperienced teachers tools and skills that will help develop creative ideas and projects in the classroom through the sharing of inspirational ideas and practice.

The training workshops I offer cover all the Primary Art National Curriculum KS1 and 2 areas and also EYFS include progression of key skills for;-
Drawing, Painting, Markmaking, Printmaking, Mixed media, 3d and Sculpture, Junk modelling, Clay work, Textiles, Paper making, Collaborative Work,
